AI War on Normal People

The war is not over. AI has not won.

Andrew Yang appeared on journalist John Avlon’s podcast. What should civic leaders and government legislators think about when it comes to AI?

It’s early in the game for AI adoption and remarkable opportunities for advancement proliferate much like Crypto did 10 years ago. Those who stand to lose the most are not paying attention.

Aside from Yang, few leaders speak truth to power like Bernie Sanders. Yang summarizes the risks confronting America which will become major issues by the end of 2025:

  1. Rampant identity theft
  2. Splintering of American consciousness by media driven by AI
  3. AI control by bad actors
  4. Displacement of workers from widespread AI implementation
  5. Wealth gap and digital divide grows wider. In a prior book, Yang argues for universal basic income helping millions falling through the cracks due to career displacement. Instead of computer programming (being overtaken by AI), workers can retrain for industries like youth education, fitness coaching, construction, elder care, and health sciences. Or they can become AI entrepreneurs in industries or regions lacking access to these amazing tools.
