One Button phone

In the not so distant future, a new hardware device will be rolled out by Open AI and some tech partners featuring a single button and just a screen for maps and entertainment. I first heard this on the Tim Ferriss podcast. It may be voice-activated and connect to every app on your iPhone or Android. Imagine not looking at this screen and clicking buttons all day, or getting 20 notifications every minute from every app that you’ve installed.

An AI-powered voice agent via API will connect to them. It will be easier to order groceries, get an Uber ride, manage your stock trades, or cancel an appointment without nonstop fidgeting. In terms of enterprise apps, a voice agent will help work productivity soar without having to go through many apps to get answers or analysis. This just might kill enterprise software as we know it. All these buttons could go away.

Such a disruptive product could also help in addressing health issues as your phone becomes the bestie to monitor your well being and lets you dial down on things that don’t help with your quality of life. It can prevent folks from ordering the extra drink or overusing prescriptions.

There’s one thing that’s certain. It will be hard for any entrepreneur to get a seat at the influential table that creates something more disruptive than smartphones. The number of gatekeepers is shrinking everyday. Just another reason why AI needs federal regulation…
