Enter Sandman for $3K+

Almost bought an Apple Vision Pro headset a couple years ago. I don’t plan to do so now. Apple must have done its homework on Metallica’s fan base and know who would be crazy enough to want this product after its initial failed launch. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich talked about his new VR concert experience last week: SXSW interview

Watching the release of Metallica’s new Mexico concert movie on the headset would have been spectacular just like an actual concert experience I paid for recently. The real stadium experience— included flying across the country and buying tickets for friends– was cheaper than buying the headset itself.

Nonetheless, the new VR film is available for viewing on the overpriced headset along with a limited selection of programming.

Truth be told, I stopped my Vision Pro purchase during the initial launch when a product demo went awry. The local store employee expected me to wear my glasses during the demo (this is not advised). The glasses broke and Apple refused to reimburse me after receiving wrong instructions given by their store. 🤣

Apple’s Vision Pro has to be one of the biggest product blunders of all time.

I’m still an Apple customer and a fan of the late Steve Jobs who didn’t come up with this silly gimmick. Of course, Metallica will stay strong even if this pet project fails. And I’ll just borrow someone’s headset. 😎
