Kalshi and Polymarket are two of the hottest startups. There’s a big push towards ‘casinofying’ the economy. Sports betting has exploded in the last couple of decades. I must admit to participating in fantasy football. It got me a lot more interested in following the NFL. I don’t put money into this stuff, but can see how this would gain mass appeal —- not to mention increase smartphone usage beyond healthy norms.
An upside could be building civic awareness in local and national elections. This really could help in getting out the vote.

These ‘bet on anything’ solutions raise awareness on non-trivial matters such as finance, public policy and who will be representing you.
The downside of not regulating prediction market apps is the ruin of young minds and financially robbing many of their livelihoods in the same manner as sports betting.
