Giving not always good

U2’s new album was initially free on iTunes as part of Apple’s marketing push. Sales are sluggish now. Most other bands such as the Black Keys are not fans. They struggle to build their brand and make money online. U2’s exclusive distribution deal with Apple for the “free” album was reportedly for $100M. The “giveaway” strategy backfired for Apple and U2, with complaints about the automatic downloads. U2 can always hit the road like the Rolling Stones. I’m still a fan even if they are deemed old school. Hopefully, the concerts will be free like the one shot below in LA.
