Stoicism

Stoicism has been around for thousands of years. Austin-based marketer and blogger Ryan Holiday uncovered it to promote a newer kind of austerity β€”- combining ancient philosophy with rigorous practices such as meditation. While this way of life is not for everyone, there are benefits from meditating, adopting pranayama, fasting, and following a daily exercise regimen in order to build resilience. I believe this beats popping pills, seeing doctors, and relying on institutions as safety nets when the going gets tough.

The inner journey is the one least traveled and comes with rewards that improve overall quality of life. Most of the practices which come from stoicism can be learned at minimal cost and in the comfort of your home. It helps some achieve relentless efficiency. Others overcome chronic illnesses. The ultimate goal is freeing yourself from your mind.
