I’ve been using an HR performance measurement app called CultureAmp during this past year. Founded in Australia, CultureAmp helps managers engage employees and gather their sentiment on a more frequent basis. The survey-driven tool helps in building relationships, understanding pain points, and overcoming blockers.
Ultimately, it fosters a better understanding of your employees’ goals and how an organization can help them —- while aligning to an overall mission. The weekly data gathered from CultureAmp helped tremendously in conducting recent performance reviews based on the volume of data collected over the course of several months.
I get geeked out when trying new technologies. The founder’s journey of Didier Elzinga is quite fascinating. I believe CultureAmp elevates the manager-employee relationship to becoming accountability partners —- truly helping each other further personal and professional goals.
I have consulted in the past with leadership coaching companies such as Torch.io (Y Combinator – W18). Survey-driven tools should be incorporated more into all professional relationships. For example, why not have something like CultureAmp be used more widely in the fields of leadership training, professional coaching, and therapy? I have found generic content and infrequent conversations with limited data capture to be ineffective.
Some orgs like Torch.io are already doing it, but there’s definitely not wide-scale usage to gauge human sentiment and gather data needed to improve performance and enhance behaviors. I know AI agents are starting to help people get better at work, in their relationships, and in handling stress.
However, the human element will always be needed in coaching and management —to augment the surveys and lifelogging tools. Here’s an informative blog post by Indian entrepreneur Siddharth Rajsekhar: link
